The main function of iron in the body is to produce hemoglobin and myoglobin, two very important substances for oxygen transport. Iron also plays a vital role in the function of several enzymes, such as cytochromes. The most important negative consequence of iron deficiency is anemia. The content of organic iron in the form of heme is the best absorbable form of iron with much greater bioavailability than non-organic iron.
Copper is a two-enzyme component , of ferric oxidases, which have the capacity to oxidize iron in a form that can be transferred to the erythrocyte production site. The role of copper in erythrocyte production is confirmed by the fact that in the absence of copper, the mobilization of iron from storage sites is deficient resulting in a decrease in erythrocyte production.
Vitamin B6 < (pyridoxine) is used in the body as a phosphate coenzyme. Pyridoxine phosphate is a key coenzyme in the process of producing heme, the main component of hemoglobin. Folic acid also plays an important role in erythrocyte production, but to ensure this process there must also be a sufficient amount of vitamin B12 (cobalamin). Deficiency of these 2 vitamins causes deterioration of DNA production in fast growing bone marrow cells resulting in production of large immature red blood cells with insufficient amount of hemoglobin.
